Just taking a break from the regularly scheduled mandolin-obsessing to share an iPhone recording of one of my favorite original songs by Dem... Of course, he is singing the song with his brother's Brentrup, so there is a little mandolin action regardless!

Testing...is this thing on?
I love my husband. I support him...even his ridiculously intense MAS. As a wife, I believe it's my responsibility to be his partner, his cheerleader, and sometimes, his voice of reason - and as my husband, I know he does the same for me. Oh geez, so much does he do this for me. But that's a whole other blog. So, even though at this point in time he's revealing his little bit 'o crazy, we can all relate, can't we? Even if we aren't necessarily obsessive about an instrument, there's certainly SOMEthing in this world that really rattles each of us...and if there isn't, perhaps it's about time to get rattled about something. 'Cause the thing is, passion is important. Passion is what makes life worth living...and sometimes passion can be obsessive. But really, what successful, driven person wasn't at least a little bit obsessive? The truth is, I'm proud of my husband and how passionate he is... Do I always understand his particular brand of passion/crazy obsession? Not always. But can I relate? In my own way, absolutely. Seriously, talk to the sales associate at Barnes and Noble the day the new Harry Potter book came out and she will tell you all about this crazy emotional lady who started crying after learning that the book was sold out. Anyway... what's my point? Passion is good. And just like with anything, sometimes there's challenge that comes with being so passionate about something...especially when presented with an obstacle. Me? I cry over a sold out Harry Potter book that I can't have. Right. Now. My husband? Well, you've seen how he reacts to not having a mandolin. The question is, what are you passionate about to the point of sometimes insanity? In an act of final desperation, the mandolin search is being put to a vote: -Gilchrist F5 (used) -Gilchrist model 3 (used) -Wiens F5 (used) -Givens A6 (used) -Brentrup M23V (used) -Apitius F5 Classic My wonderful husband reviewing Brentrups with his mum over dinner...and wanting an especially unique one. Taking a mental and emotional break from the mandolin hunt to learn more about the recording process...
Although, you can still get a peek at the Givens on his Mac screen. Why, Mandolin Cafe, why? For some reason, my little thread introducing this blog was closed down... :( ...and it wasn't enough just to close my husband's thread, "The search continues..." but they also decided to delete it from the history of all threads just so no one could ever read it. Ever. Again. In a very strange, very small, very specific way, some people have too much power.
Oh well. Despite the hiccup, the search still continues...tune in to see what happens next and add your two cents in the comments here. A Wiens, perhaps? |
